The Dog Days of Summer in NYC
![]()
On Monday I was fortunate enough to take 15 girls from our Fashion Boot Camp program to NYC with my instructors Miss Crissy, Miss Elaine and Miss Emily. When we got there, we immediately went to the Nicole Miller showroom. They were SO wonderful...warm, friendly and with the dogs running around I felt quite at home. They generously showed us every nook and cranny of the business; the showroom, the design room, the cutting and sample making room, pr and more. They were so wonderful, I only want to wear Nicole Miller from here on out.

Next we headed over to Mood Fabric Store, made famous by Project Runway. The girls squealed when they stepped off the elevator. They loved standing in the very spot that Tim Gunn stood, however they were quickly devastated to hear that they missed a show's taping just two days earlier. It was a great visit though and the girls were amazed at the number of fabrics, buttons, rhinestones, feathers and trims that designers get to choose from when creating their fashions.

The Mood Doggie

After our overwhelming trip to Mood, we strolled down the Fashion Walk of Fame and saw all the "stars" of the fashion industry. The rest of the afternoon involved lunch in Bryant Park, M&J Trimming (which the girls flipped out over) and then several other fabric shops before we flopped down in our bus, exhausted but happy, and headed back to Philly.

This was our first trip to NYC with our camps and we go again in three weeks. So I'm resting up and buying doggie treats to bring on our next adventure.

Boy! Did we have a FANTABULOUS day in New York. Yes, the weather did cooperate nicely, which helped, but the day's activities REALLY inspired students and teachers alike!
