Remy-The Wonder Dog of Needle Arts
![]()
When we first opened The Handwork Studio, I lived 1 ½ miles away. I would walk to work everyday and bring our only dog, at the time, Remington, to work with me. The kids loved having a dog in the studio.
He is a Chinese Crested Powderpuff (you know the bald dogs that always win ugliest dog contests….that is Remy but with hair) , so he doesn’t shed and is good for kids with allergies. As time went on, we found some kids were afraid of dogs and Remy was afraid of some of the kids’ dads. As our programs and hours expanded, having him at the studio became somewhat of an issue. Needless to say, Remy no longer comes to the studio to visit.
We had a beloved teacher, Miss Dorian who has sadly since passed away, who knitted a Remy for the studio. Our newly knitted Remy sat on my desk and became more famous than the real Remy. Six years later, our new students even know about Remy and though they may have never met him, stories still surround the dog at The Handwork Studio. When we designed this website we knew it would not be complete without Remington, our wonder dog of needle arts. (That is Remy in the middle with his brothers Polo, on top, and Mikey)
