5 Things Kids Love to Make
At The Handwork Studio, we are always creating new and exciting projects that the kids will love to make, because projects tend to take a long time, we want to be sure the kids will want to finish them.
Here are 5 all time favorites:
- Animals: Almost any kind but especially pigs, dogs, penguins and cats
- Pillows: No sew, heart shaped or tiny tiny little squares we can’t stop them from making enough. Tied, hand sewn or machine sewn, a quick and easy project for any age.
- Finger Knitting: Not sure what it is? See our “How To” Video on Finger Knitting. Kids will finger knit their shoe laces, draw string pants, scraps of yarn or thread, I have even seen them try to finger knit their hair. A great car activity!
- Dolls or Creatures: In general (but certainly not always) the girls enjoy making dolls of themselves; same eye color or hair color and sometimes they like to make dolls of how they would like to be (different eye color or hair color). Boys like making creatures, the wackier the better.
- Needle Felted Anything: Looking for a new activity or craft that the kids can do and you won’t end up having to finish…..try needle felting! All the rage in the adult crafting circles and we’re making if fun for kids. Don’t know what it is, go to our “How To” Video section and see Needle Felting. Really easy but watch out for sharp needles, your kids will poke themselves-that I can promise you!
